A little bit of Loiyangalani

Jambo!

After our expedition to Mount Kulal, we decided to visit Loiyangalani, a lake side town east of Lake Turkana, Kenya. Being a small town, there was little to be done. We managed to visited the Desert Museum and swim in the Lake.
We spent one night and left the following morning headed for the capital!

Here are the pics!

Ilmuget - rite of passage

Hello, hello......

I hope y'all doing good!

Our timing to travel to Mount Kulal was on point. We arrived there just in time for Illmuget, a cultural ceremony performed by the Samburu Morans. The best part is we partly witnessed the event.

Ps. I will try to explain it as well as I understood it. I might miss out on some details since I do not practice the Samburu culture.

Mount Kulal... a unique ecosystem.

Jambo jambo!!!

I love research, anything to do with wildlife am interested. So here I am with a small grant to do an Avifaunal (bird) survey on Mount Kulal as well as document community utilization of the forests.
The in depth details of the project might bore you, so I will just share a few pictures, a little bit about the site and the journey.

Map of Kenya showing where Mount Kulal is located.
Mount Kulal is about 700km from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, East of Lake Turkana.
The forest ecosystem is unique considering it is surrounded by arid-land.

Happy New Year to you all....
